Voltage Class — 33 kV
33 kV is widely used for medium-distance distribution in Sub-Saharan Africa, parts of the Middle East, and South Asia — particularly for rural electrification and grid extension projects where longer feeder lines require higher voltage to limit losses. XinHuan manufactures IEC 60076 oil-immersed transformers at 33 kV, from 50 kVA to 10,000 kVA.
Technical Overview
33 kV is the preferred sub-transmission and primary distribution voltage for many African utilities, including those in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. It is also used in India, Pakistan, and parts of the Middle East. Transformers at this voltage class step down to 11 kV for onward distribution, or directly to 0.4 kV for low-voltage supply.
XinHuan's 33 kV range is manufactured to IEC 60076, with options from small rural distribution units (50 kVA) up to large substation transformers (10,000 kVA). Products are available as standalone oil-immersed transformers or integrated into European-type compact substations for rapid deployment.
All 33 kV transformers include full routine test reports as standard. Type test reports from accredited third-party laboratories are available on request, as is third-party witnessed factory acceptance testing (FAT) by SGS, Bureau Veritas, or Intertek.
